Smart Jobs — Recruitment Platform

My first professional project was Smart Jobs, a recruitment platform where I contributed as a Backend Developer in a small team with a Project Manager, Business Analyst, Frontend Developer, and me.

We analyzed requirements and researched similar recruitment platforms. I identified three primary roles: Admin, Employer, and Candidate, and categorized the features accordingly. After several discussions, we finalized the initial and future requirements.

My Project Manager then gave me the responsibility of designing the database, even though I was a Junior Developer. The Project Manager reviewed the design, identified issues, and guided me through 2–3 refinement iterations.

The platform included:

1. Admin: Managed platform-level data such as categories, job levels, and other configurations.
2. Employer: Created and managed job posts, including regular and premium/Hot Jobs. Employers could purchase CV credits and search the CV Bank using filters such as location, salary, age, education, experience, and keywords. PayPal was integrated for payments.
3. Candidate: Created profiles, searched for jobs, and applied to job postings.

There were around 20–25 backend modules, and I completed the backend development within approximately 45 working days, while frontend development progressed in parallel.

After development, I handled backend bug fixes and performed 3–4 rounds of UI testing. This helped me identify edge cases and reduced backend bugs.

As the number of job posts increased, page load times became slower. To improve performance, we introduced Redis caching for frequently accessed data.

My Project Manager also guided me on AWS, Nginx, Jenkins, deployment, and CI/CD, giving me hands-on experience beyond backend development.

Overall, this project gave me practical experience across requirement analysis, database design, backend development, testing, performance optimization, deployment, and CI/CD.
